Chiropractors Yandina

Searching for chiropractors in Yandina? Head east on Yandina-Coolum Road to our Coolum Beach rooms.

Yandina, the first town in the Maroochy district, is now a working town where hospital rosters, food processing and tourism keep people busy. Rasura's chiropractors don't practise in the town, and the nearer of our two clinics is 4/21 Birtwill St, Coolum Beach. People comparing chiropractors in Yandina usually ask where to go and what a visit involves. Hours on a ward or packing line can bring on lower back pain, neck pain or shoulder pain by Friday. At Coolum Beach, the first step is a conversation about your job, followed by a hands-on examination. Should the examination point to something outside chiropractic, such as a problem your GP needs to look at, we pass that on and help arrange the referral.

  • No GP referral needed

Between 2011 and 2021 Yandina added more than 850 residents, reaching 3,073, and its median age of 36 sits well below most hinterland towns. Hospitals employ 6.0% of working locals, more than any other single industry, while the Ginger Factory and Nutworks draw visitors and food-processing staff. That mix shapes what chiropractors in Yandina's nearest clinic tend to hear about.

Your first appointment with us begins with questions about the shifts you work, the loads you handle and any lower back pain or shoulder pain you've noticed, then moves to an examination. Afterwards we talk through findings and whether chiropractic care is a reasonable next step. Shift workers weighing up chiropractors in Yandina can also expect posture advice built around their own bench, ward or vehicle.

Yandina reached 3,073 residents at the 2021 Census, with a median age of 36 (ABS QuickStats).

Why choose us in Yandina

Care planned around Yandina rosters

Night duty, early starts at the processing plant and kids' sport rarely leave a tidy gap in the week. Chiropractors in Yandina's catchment who book with our Coolum Beach team get focused visits, plain-language findings and exercises short enough for a tea break. If a physio, GP or other clinician suits your shift-work strain better, that gets said early.

Your job shapes the exam

Tell us how a normal shift goes, from the first lift to the last hour standing. We use that detail to decide which movements to test and which stretches to suggest, so care from a chiropractor in Yandina's closest clinic relates to your real tasks.

Saturday mornings help rosters

The hours table on our website lists Saturdays from 8:30am to 1:00pm alongside weekday sessions. It doesn't name a clinic, so ring Coolum Beach on (07) 5446 5044 to check what's running before you set off.

Room for the whole family

Adults, teenagers and younger children are all seen. In line with the Chiropractic Board of Australia's interim policy, our chiropractors do not use spinal manipulation to treat children under two.

Gentler techniques on request

If hands-on adjusting isn't your preference, low-force chiropractic using the hand-held Activator is one alternative. Dr Ken Rasura, a Coolum Beach chiropractor, offers both styles and will explain each before you decide.

Services

Services for Yandina's working week

If you've been looking for a chiropractor in Yandina, all five services below run from our Birtwill St rooms at Coolum Beach.

Assessment and chiropractic care

The first session opens with your injury history, current medications and the physical demands of your job. Then come posture checks, joint range testing and nerve or orthopaedic tests where they're needed. X-rays or scans are only requested if what we find warrants them. Care, if suitable, may combine manual adjusting, low-force chiropractic and soft tissue work, and we describe each step first.

Best for: New complaints or strain that keeps returning

How chiropractic care works

Shoulder and arm strain from repetitive work

Reaching to high racks, stacking cartons and carrying trays all ask a lot of the rotator cuff and shoulder blade. Our examination covers the shoulder itself along with the neck and upper back that steady it. Depending on findings, care may combine adjusting, soft tissue work and exercises, or we suggest a review by another practitioner.

Best for: Shoulder pain from reaching or carrying

About shoulder pain care

Lower back pain from lifting

Patient transfers on a ward or repeated carton lifts late in a shift can strain the lower back. We test how the lumbar spine and hips move under load, screen the nerves supplying the legs and walk you through the results. You leave with lifting tips suited to your workplace and a clear view of whether further care makes sense.

Children and family visits

A dedicated children's room at Coolum Beach makes it easier to bring kids along when a parent books. For children themselves, we take a careful history and use gentle methods suited to their age, and we talk findings through with parents before any care is discussed.

Best for: Parents booking for themselves and their children

Paediatric chiropractic information

Posture and ergonomic advice

Hard concrete floors, a nurses' station counter or hours behind the wheel between jobs each leave their mark. We offer posture advice for home and work, including stretches and small changes to benches, chairs or car seats, so you have practical ways to manage the daily load between appointments.

Best for: People on their feet or at a desk for long hours

Local area insights

Yandina, a working town on the Maroochy River

A young town north of Nambour

Nine kilometres north of Nambour, Yandina had 3,073 residents at the 2021 Census, up from 2,221 a decade earlier. A median age of 36 makes it younger than much of the hinterland. Separate houses make up 83.1% of dwellings, and roughly a quarter of households (25.5%) rent, a share that may reflect young workers and new families moving in. Many people searching for chiropractors in Yandina are juggling work and young children.

Production floors, wards and busy households

The hospital sector is the largest single employer of working residents at 6.0%. Around the Ginger Factory and Nutworks, food processing and tourism create roles built on standing, repetitive reaching and lifting. If your week looks like that, you may notice lower back pain, tired feet or shoulder pain building toward the weekend.

Getting to our Coolum Beach rooms

Rasura has no chiropractor based in town, so Yandina patients come to us at Coolum Beach. Both of our clinics provide parking and wheelchair access. Coolum Beach is where Dr Ken Rasura and Dr Amanda Frache, the two chiropractors on that roster, see patients.

Fitting care around rosters

Rotating shifts make regular appointments tricky, so we look for times that suit your roster and keep home exercises short enough for a meal break. Fatigue late in a shift changes how people lift, so a chiropractor in Yandina's nearest clinic will cover pacing and bench set-up alongside hands-on care.

Common problems & solutions

Common complaints among Yandina workers

Shift work and manual tasks around town tend to produce the four complaints described below, which chiropractors in Yandina's neighbouring clinics assess often. Nothing here replaces an examination, and a chiropractor in Yandina's nearest clinic checks you in person before suggesting care.

Production work

End-of-shift lower back ache

Cause
Standing for hours on hard floors and repeatedly lifting stock or trays loads the lower back and hips.
Why it matters
Lower back pain can make the last hours of a shift harder and affect sleep before the next one.
Our solution
Our chiropractor checks how the lumbar spine and hips bend and rotate, screens the leg nerves, then explains the findings and whether hands-on care plus exercises may be worth trying.
Prevention / next step
Stand on anti-fatigue mats where they're provided and change your stance often. Leg weakness or bladder changes need prompt GP attention.

Signs to watch for:

  • Ache that builds through a shift
  • Stiffness getting out of the car
  • Pain bending to low shelves

Back pain care

Repetitive tasks

Wrist and forearm strain from packing

Cause
Fast, repetitive gripping, twisting and packing can overload the tendons and joints of the wrist and forearm.
Why it matters
Wrist pain can affect grip, work speed and everyday tasks like carrying shopping or children.
Our solution
We examine the wrist, elbow and neck, explain what we find and discuss care, or refer to your GP or another practitioner if that suits better.
Prevention / next step
Vary tasks during a shift where possible and take micro-breaks. See a GP if you have constant numbness or visible swelling.

Signs to watch for:

  • Pain gripping or twisting
  • Tingling in the fingers
  • Forearm tightness

Wrist pain care

Shift work

Neck tension on rotating rosters

Cause
Night shifts, short sleep and long periods looking down at charts, screens or benches can tighten the neck and upper back.
Why it matters
On rotating rosters, neck pain and headaches related to neck or upper-back tension can make the drive home after night duty harder.
Our solution
We test how the neck and upper back turn and bend, explain what we find and may suggest adjusting, soft tissue work or stretches you can fit into a ward break.
Prevention / next step
Set charting screens at eye height where you can. Go to hospital or your GP straight away if a headache is sudden and severe or arrives with numbness or weakness.

Signs to watch for:

  • Stiff neck after a night shift
  • Tight upper shoulders
  • Headaches late in the day

Neck pain care

Standing work

Hip discomfort from long standing

Cause
Standing in one spot or walking on concrete for a full shift can load the hips, particularly with worn footwear.
Why it matters
A sore hip can make stairs, long walks across a factory floor and side-sleeping uncomfortable.
Our solution
We examine the hip alongside the lower back and knee, since all three share the load, then explain the findings and whether chiropractic care may fit.
Prevention / next step
Cushioned, supportive footwear and regular position changes can help. A hip that hurts after a fall, or alongside a fever, should be checked by your GP.

Signs to watch for:

  • Ache on the outside of the hip
  • Pain lying on one side
  • Stiffness after sitting

Questions from Yandina residents

Which Rasura clinic should I use if I work in Yandina?

Our Coolum Beach rooms are the nearer option for people comparing chiropractors in Yandina. Alexandra Headland, further south at 2/146 Alexandra Parade, is the alternative if you'd like dry needling with Dr Lillie Lines or Dr Natise Schalken, both chiropractors there. Ring (07) 5446 5044 and we'll help you weigh up which location fits around your work and travel.

I work night shifts at the hospital. Can I still book?

Yes. Tell us your roster when you call and we'll look for a session that falls on a day off or before an afternoon start. Jot down your usual shift pattern, and if you have scan results or a medication list, those are useful too. A chiropractor in Yandina's nearest clinic will use that information to plan follow-ups that suit your sleep as well as your work.

Is there anything for work strain beyond adjusting?

Yes. Alongside manual or low-force chiropractic, care may include soft tissue work, home stretches and practical posture advice for your bench, ward station or vehicle. We explain why we suggest each part and how it fits around your shifts, and you can say no to anything you're not comfortable with. Your plan is reviewed as we go.

Can I use Medicare or DVA for chiropractic?

Possibly, if you are eligible. A GP can refer someone with a qualifying chronic condition for a Medicare chiropractic care plan under Chronic Disease Management, which rebates up to five visits in a calendar year. Veterans with a DVA card can ask us how their cover applies. You don't need a GP referral to book a private appointment and claim on extras.

Business information & location overview

Yandina's history and your nearest chiropractors

Yandina was the first town in the Maroochy district and is described as the oldest continuously inhabited town on the Sunshine Coast. Its name comes from the Kabi words yan dhinang, meaning to cross water by foot, a reference to the first upstream ford on the Maroochy River. Yandina State School opened as a provisional school on 14 November 1889, and the railway arrived in 1891. Koongalba, the Low family homestead built in 1893, is heritage listed. In 1978 the Buderim Ginger co-operative moved its operations to Yandina, and its tourist complex opened in 1985.
