Does persistent vertigo leave you feeling dizzy, unstable and exhausted? With over 34 years of experience, our dedicated team of chiropractors is here to address your vertigo symptoms to help you find relief and restore your overall balance.

What causes vertigo?

Vertigo is a sensation of dizziness or spinning, often described as feeling off-balance, as if the environment around you is moving or tilting when it's not. The experience of vertigo can lead to feelings of nausea, vomiting, sweating, and difficulty walking or standing.

It’s estimated that any given year, 1 in 10 people will experience vertigo or dizziness.

Vertigo can be associated with inner ear problems, issues with the central nervous system, or other health conditions. Common causes include:

  • Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV)
  • Infection of the ears, sinuses or vestibular nerve
  • Meniere’s disease
  • Migraines
  • Head or neck injury (including whiplash)
  • Medications

Whether your vertigo is a recent development or a long-term struggle, our team of experienced chiropractors would be delighted to assess you and provide effective treatment that will improve your quality of life.

Your questions, answered

What causes vertigo?

Vertigo can result from inner ear problems, migraines, and issues in the central nervous system. Our chiropractors will assess your vertigo to determine its root cause and suggest appropriate treatment.

How many chiropractic sessions are typically needed to see results for vertigo?

The number of treatments varies based on the severity and underlying cause of your vertigo. Your chiropractor will create a personalised treatment plan that may include multiple treatments over a few days or weeks.

Can chiropractic care prevent future episodes of vertigo?

Regular chiropractic care may help address underlying issues, potentially reducing the frequency of vertigo episodes.

Can neck problems contribute to vertigo?

Yes, misalignments in the neck can impact balance and contribute to vertigo, and our chiropractic adjustments can address these issues.

Are there any side effects of chiropractic care for vertigo?

Side effects are usually mild and temporary, such as a small exacerbation of your symptoms before relief after specific manoeuvres.

What is the Epley Manoeuvre, and how does it help with vertigo?

The Epley Manoeuvre is a series of head movements that chiropractors use to reposition inner ear crystals, often providing relief from vertigo, specifically BPPV.

Can vestibular rehabilitation exercises be done at home?

Yes, some exercises may be done at home. We may prescribe vestibular rehabilitation exercises tailored to your needs.

What should I expect during a chiropractic vertigo evaluation?

During an evaluation, your chiropractor will assess your posture, spinal alignment, and may order a scan to determine the severity of your vertigo.

Is chiropractic care covered by insurance for vertigo treatment?

It depends on your insurance. Check with your provider to see if chiropractic care for vertigo is covered. Also, as primary health care practitioners you can see us under the EPC (Enhanced Primary Care plan).

Do I need a referral from my GP to see your team for shoulder pain?

No. As our chiropractors are primary health care practitioners, you do not need a referral to see us. Feel free to book an appointment or ask us any questions.
