Jaw Pain Treatment

on the Sunshine Coast

Are you fed up with being in pain every time you try to eat and speak? With over 34 years of experience, our dedicated team is expert at addressing the causes of your jaw pain and bringing you relief.

What causes jaw pain?

Often associated with temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, jaw pain can result from a range of causes, including muscle tension, misalignment of the jaw or neck, poor posture and stress.

People dealing with jaw pain may have trouble enjoying food, engaging in conversations comfortably and even sleeping due to night-time grinding. Additionally, the pain can extend to headaches, neck discomfort, and contribute to feelings of stress and tension.

TMJ disorders is a common condition which is seen in up to 60–70% of the Australian population. Women are four times as likely to suffer from it.

Our team of doctors treat jaw pain with gentle adjustments, exercises and even dry needling to reduce your pain and get you back to feeling yourself.

How soon can I expect relief from jaw pain with chiropractic care?

Sometimes, an adjustment can provide instant relief. More chronic or difficult issues can take longer to heal, therefore timelines vary. However many patients experience positive changes with consistent maintenance sessions.

Can chiropractic care completely cure jaw pain?

While complete cure outcomes can vary, chiropractic care may significantly alleviate jaw pain by addressing underlying issues. A personalised assessment with our doctors will guide you on the potential benefits for your specific condition.

How long is a typical chiropractic appointment for jaw pain?

Appointment times vary, but a typical chiropractic treatment for jaw pain ranges from 15-30 minutes.

How frequently should I book chiropractic sessions?

Frequency depends on the severity of your symptoms. Your chiropractor will provide personalised recommendations.

Do I need X-rays for chiropractic jaw pain treatment?

X-rays may be part of the assessment, but this varies based on individual cases. Your chiropractor will let you know if it is the case during your first appointment.

What can I expect during a chiropractic appointment for jaw pain?

Based on a thorough assessment of your injury or complaint, your treatment may include gentle adjustments, muscle release techniques, trigger point therapy, soft tissue therapy and recommendations for ongoing care.

Are there lifestyle changes I can make to support my treatment?

Absolutely! Integrating stress management techniques, such as deep breathing exercises or mindfulness practices, into your daily routine can significantly aid in alleviating jaw pain.

Additionally, our doctors might suggest adopting jaw-friendly dietary habits, like avoiding gum and wearing a teeth guard at night if you are grinding your teeth.

Do I need a referral from my GP to see your team for jaw pain?

No. As our chiropractors are primary health care practitioners, you do not need a referral to see us. Feel free to book an appointment or ask us any questions.

Are chiropractic services for jaw pain covered by insurance?

Many insurance plans do cover it. Please check with your insurance provider to understand your coverage.
